This site will work as both a production blog and official website for the short film Imaginary. It is maintained by the director, Gayle Ye.
About Imaginary
Two girls, Katie and Miranda are inseperable. Katie is a 9 year old girl who is a social outcast in school due her wild and often dubbed strange imagination. Her imaginary friend, Miranda, guides Katie through her imagination. However all this changes when Miranda goes missing.
About Gayle Ye (Director)
Gayle Ye grew up lip syncing to Our Lady Peace songs into her webcam and then throwing it into Windows Movie Maker to edit. She’s never seen Jurassic Park and doesn’t actually know much about Hollywood’s praised directors. In fact, she looks up to Zak Forsman director of the small-independent production company, Sabi Pictures. Entering junior year soon, she hopes to create video art that is both honest, humanistic and humourous.
About Athena Portokalidis (Miranda)
Having been close friends with Gayle for a long time, Athena was top choice for Miranda. Athena has this mystic quality about her that surely add to the table of “Imaginary”. Athena has never acted professionally, nor has she had extensive acting experience however, do not worry, she will shine through. Athena is entering her final year of high school.
About Katie Shim (Katie)
At a glance most think Katie is 10 years old, maybe it’s her size, maybe it’s her winning smile. Regardless, Katie is a shoo-in for the role of well… Katie! She has modelling and acting experience under her belt. Katie has this energetic feeling to her that it was almost impossible not to love. And oh, yeah, Katie is actually 15.
About Lucas Brode (film score)
Lucas Brode is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Upstate New York. Currently he composes for and plays drums in Peter Rabbit & the Killer Carrots and plays guitar & glockenspiel in the collaborative instrumental rock ensemble Hannibal Montana. The groups can be seen playing various venues in the New York area. Past projects include leading the Fitzo Perfecto ensemble as guitarist and vocalist and being a member of the jazz-rock group Kitchen Coalition playing drums, melodica, singing and composing. Lucas recently received a BA in Music from Skidmore College and is now living in northern Westchester County, New York, where he does freelance composition and recording work while teaching private music lessons.
About Kate Markle (film score)
Kate Markle was brought up in a household that loved all the arts. She has loved playing and composing music from a very early age, winning third place in all of Ontario in Music For Young Children’s Composition festival. Her main instrument is the piano, but she incorporates many different instruments, making her music style versatile and distinct. She hopes to continue on in music after high school, composing film scores, as well as her own music.
